Hello, come in

A small café at the top of the hill.

Steps from the cathedral, right where the climb runs out, Hearth & Hollow is where uphill Lincoln comes to sit down. Speciality coffee, slow breakfasts, seasonal lunches and bakes that are still warm when they reach the counter.

  • Baked at six

Croissants, buns and sourdough from our own oven, every morning we’re open.

  • Coffee, dialled in

A seasonal espresso and a rotating guest filter from a small roaster in the county.

  • A sunny courtyard

Sixteen seats out the back, tucked away from the wind that comes over the hill.

  • Dogs welcome

Water bowls, a biscuit jar on the counter and a warm spot under the bench.

Our story

A small room with the oven on.

We opened Hearth & Hollow because the top of the hill needed somewhere to catch your breath: a proper espresso, a window seat, and something warm coming out of the oven.

The bakery starts at six. Croissants are laminated over three days, and the sourdough has been fed every morning since we opened. Our coffee comes from a small roaster in the county and is dialled in fresh each day; the milk comes from a dairy a few miles out of town.

It’s a small room, with twelve seats inside and sixteen in the courtyard when the sun’s out. So come early, bring the dog, and stay as long as you like.

“Nothing on the counter is older than this morning.”
